1. They place all of their main priorities in plain view.

Most neat freaks know what they need to get done and when they need to do it. It’s most likely that way because they have it in plain sight.

Having a handy to-do list and placing it on your fridge or even tacked on the wall, will make things all the much easier to getting more organized and becoming that neat freak that ticks things off daily.

2. They tie up their cables to be extra neat & tidy.

Most neat people have little ways to clear up almost anything that annoys them. And the same goes for their cables.

So the next time your cable knots up and looks like a hot mess? Neatly connect them with tape or clips. Little tricks like these are the best way to combat little ongoing issues in your home.

3. They don’t forget a thing with handy reminders.

Most neat freaks pursue their most important tasks relentlessly and they manage those tasks with reminders. Try taking your reminders a step further by using the Amazon Echo

To-do lists are great but making sure that you are being reminded as you go will help you pursue your most important tasks relentlessly until you get them done.

4. No spills or messes go uncleaned.

Neat freaks rarely never leave dishes unwashed in the sink, they rarely let the toilet turn another color, and they never leave a spill to go uncleaned.

So soak your dirty cooking wear in the sink (if you have space), rinse them after dinner, and yes, clean up those water stains on a hot summer day, even if you don’t feel like it.

5. They always notice every ‘out of place’ thing.

You can go through the day tackling your most important priorities but if you happen to see something that’s out of place OR that needs to be picked up, cleaned up, or put away?  Don’t wait!

All neat freaks do it when they notice it.  Neat freaks are very detail-oriented so when it comes to something being out of place, you bet they are picking it up and putting it away.

6. Neat freaks never use paper.

When you have little messes all over the house, a little more here or there doesn’t make much of a difference.

When you start thinking like that, that can quickly turn into a vicious cycle that most neat freaks stray away from, especially when it comes to paper clutter!

Try and switch everything from bill payments to your legal documents online. You can get rid of a year’s worth of old papers this way and you bet that the neatest neat freaks out there have already gone paperless.

7. They are avid label users.

Labels, labels, labels!  All neat freaks love them and when you’re in their home, you’ll see labels for almost everything!

You can easily get your hands on labels and have them shipped to your front door in less than 48 hours. Once you have them, try sticking those labels onto everything that makes sense. They’ll really help you stay just that much more organized.

8. They follow the ‘something in, something out’ rule.

Whenever you do make a disaster of your home, you want to clean up the mess as quickly as you can but what if you purchase something new and add more to your space? That’s when neat freaks apply the ‘something in and something out’ rule.

When a true neat freak buys something new, they are never scared to discard something old. After all, they are neat for a reason.

So when do purchase something new? Try to donate or gift something old that you don’t use anymore to free up more space.

9. They always have a plan with their weekly schedules.

Nobody can see the future, not even the neatest clean freak out there. So that means we must plan for it.

Plus, that’s why you’ll notice that most neat freaks are freakishly good at planning. They are not afraid of the future and they are ready for any challenge that life may throw at them because they simply abide by a weekly schedule.

This means that you too must be a master of thinking ahead, and this calls for preparation!

You can easily do this by creating a weekly schedule and filling it up with something new that’ll keep your home in fine order. You can use a calendar, notebook, spreadsheet, or checklist, anything that’s going to help you as well to plan ahead.

Neat freaks know that writing down their obligations will be a strong tool for preparation.

Plus it’ll also help you remember your goals to stay just that much more motivated to see them through.

10. They love storage solutions.

Think water-sealed zipper bags, baskets, boxes, containers, and more. Anything that can be stored away is something neat freaks just can’t get enough of.

They can all be used for storing a range of objects, including seasonal clothing, additional blankets, art, cleaners, or even your essential documents. Every container can make a difference, so you know exactly what’s inside. Plus you’ll know where to find what you are searching for at any given time.

11. They always tidy in one swoop when they are busy.

This is a great cleaning hack and you bet, most neat freaks are tidying their homes this way. The next time you are bound for time and when you really want to get your place cleared up in less than 5 minutes?

It is really helpful to throw everything around the house into a laundry basket.  That way after you’ve gathered all the out-of-place items, you can then categorize them into various rooms such as kid’s quarters, kitchens, offices, and bathrooms.

You’ll save a lot of time tidying this way and can put all of your stuff away in one easy swoop.

12. They keep the stuff they use regularly easily accessible.

This may sound ridiculously easy, but it isn’t.

A lot of people still don’t access the things they always use efficiently.  And the things you need all the time should be really feasible to obtain; otherwise, you will make a mess and put it back ‘later’ (or leave it in a giant pile, more likely).

Think things like the common spices you use in front of all the spices in the cupboard, popular socks placed at the top of the drawer, and whatever else you use a lot to have a home that’s easy to source when you need it.

*Bonus: They always keep their high energy sustained.

Lastly, to stay really clean and super organized, we all know that that takes a lot of energy. That cleaning when you have the most energy will always complete your chores in record time.

So how do neat freaks pull this off? They always stay hydrated.

Staying hydrated will completely change your mindset to enjoying getting organized much like the majority of neat freaks already do.

Plus, if you say you don’t have the energy to clean your house regularly, then the best way to combat this is to drink more water and see if your fatigue slowly turns around.

There you have it!

These habits are all a great starting point to getting everything in fine order in life.

However, please be aware that obsessive-compulsive disorder is a true disorder and that some neat freaks may have that, so it’s best advised to not overextend yourself while you are implementing these tips.

Just give it your best and you’ll be a much more organized person for it!
