Are you struggling with a bad mood?
There is no human in this world that doesn’t suffer from a bad mood from time to time. And if you’re one of those people that hopes that they can be in this “cheerful happy mood all-of-the-time”? In reality, that’s just simply not realistic.
So if you sometimes fight with trying to stay positive? Then you need some simple straightforward attitude boosting techniques (that you can turn to daily!) to help you stay in a more positive state.
That’s why these super easy mood-enhancing techniques will help boost your overall mood, for when the time comes that you may need it most.
Let’s get to it!
1. Let natural light in
We all know that daylight can lift our overall moods tremendously. That mostly all sunny days paired with a healthy lifestyle are just plain awesome! But on the flip side, it’s virtually impossible to have sunny days every day. And here’s what happens if you are deprived…
Without enough natural sunlight, serotonin levels drop, (which is associated with seasonal affective disorder ) which deeply affects our moods if we live somewhere that doesn’t get enough sunlight, mostly during the cold dark winter months.
Now with natural sunlight, it helps increase the release of serotonin, which is known as the happy hormone. This helps lift your overall mood, as well as help you feel more focused and relaxed.
So if the sun doesn’t shine where you live? Open up those blinds in the morning, take vitamin D supplements, and consider getting a light therapy enhancer to help you lift your vitamin D deficient mood.
2. Establish a routine
Establishing a routine will allow you to create a habit of getting everything that you want to get done, done! Plus sticking to a routine that you enjoy is of course going to be a simple mood booster. But the trick to this is that you have to know what you want to do within your routine.
If you have no clue, that’s okay! Start writing down what your morning dream routine looks like and do it all the way through to how you would like to see your night routine look like too. Put on paper, all of the little tiny minuscule details that you see yourself accomplishing throughout your perfect day, and try to follow it as much as you can after you’ve written it all down. Even if you can’t manifest the whole routine right off the bat? At least you are heading in the right direction!
3. exercise for 5 mins
If you are feeling low, then the best thing to do to improve your mood is to get moving! Whatever exercise you do will help improve your mood or whatever has been bogging you down.
Moving is just good for the body and the mind. It’s an instant mood enhancer and it most usually gets out any aggression, pent up energy, or anything that’s just really bothering you!

4. Get outside right away and breathe
If you’re someone who can go the whole day without leaving the house? Just make sure it doesn’t turn into a habit. Especially if you are someone who works from home.
A really easy and free mood booster to help you get outside is having handy apps that help you keep track of your outdoor activity. It’s sort of like having a handy guide that’ll show you how much time you spend active and orders. So get an app that tracks your movement like the app that I have called Sweat Coin.
When you sign up, the app will track your OUTDOOR steps and walks or anything that you do outside. It only tracks outdoor movement. How does it know? Who knows and it’s pretty darn cool.
Plus you can earn sweat coins with every step you take and you can then use those coins to purchase goods in their market (which also sells health and wellness products!!).
You have to check out Sweatcoin if you haven’t yet. Whatever you do, get outside and breathe the fresh air, especially when you’re feeling down.
5. Hyperfocus on a passion project
It’s becoming more and more commonly accepted that you get the most creative, powerful, and worthwhile stuff done when you can attain a state of flow, simply by working on something that in which you love to do the most.
When you’re fully immersed in what you are working on, you’re forgetting about time. Plus, the task that you’re doing is also renewing you within that time-space, thus having a tremendous benefit in boosting your overall mood as you do it! If that makes sense!
6. Recognize that a Full Night’s Sleep will give You a better overall mood
If you’re sleeping less than you need regularly? You’re asking your body to perform under conditions that are problematic. And you’re setting yourself up for disappointment virtually even before you start your day.
University of Pennsylvania researchers found that subjects who were limited to only 4.5 hours of sleep a night for one week reported feeling more stressed, angry, sad, and mentally exhausted.
Experts are also beginning to recognize that working more and sleeping less is not the solution to living a happy and productive life. In fact, they suggest that by having a good healthy sleep consistently, it will have exceptional benefits.
That’s because when the subjects from that research study resumed normal sleep? They reported a dramatic improvement in their overall mood.
Some handy tips to improve your sleep are:
- Write down how many hours you sleep every night and when you feel the most relaxed and rested. You should have a better idea of how you’re doing after a week and notice how much sleep you may need.
- Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, including weekends.
- Keep your bedroom dark, cool, and quiet. Experts suggest that ideally, your room should be between 60 and 67°F (15.6 and 19.4°C).
- If you have to take a nap during the day, try to limit it to 20 minutes.
7. Nourish your body with mood-enhancing foods
Okay, so we’re are going to go with that you already know that your food choices affect your physical health as a whole. And that happiness and obtaining a better mood is always going to be linked with how we eat!
BUT did you know that there are some delicious and healthy foods that can affect your mind, by enhancing your overall mood? Yes, there are certain foods that actually bring our bodies more joy, our minds more happiness, and these are called happy foods!

What’s realistic is having a plan and knowing what you can do to enhance your overall mood when you are feeling down. Know that it’s a good idea to start small (when you’re forming new behaviors), and not tackle too much at once.
