We all would love to wake up with a smile on our face each morning but additionally, since we are talking about it, I don’t think anyone needs to wake up as though they are a kid on Christmas morning.
But you surely must have a good compelling reason to wake up with enough energy and feeling ready for the day every morning?
Maybe it’s a passion project that you have been putting off, or maybe it’s to win back time with your kids, and whatever your reason, if it gives you that extra motivation and drive to take charge of your mornings, then that’s the best place to start.
Plus having a compelling reason will help make these 8 more ways to wake up feeling a little bit better, a lot easier to implement. Let’s start the list!
1. Know how much sleep you really need.
How long should you sleep at night? Did you know that you can actually get too much sleep?
Research has shown that sleep loss contributes to symptoms of exhaustion during the day while sleeping too much can have negative effects on your mental health.
Since the most desirable amount of sleep is about 7-9 hours, a person must decide what hours their body requires between those hours, in order to evaluate their sleep sweet spot, and having a handy sleep journal will support you with your sleep problems to find the best hours for you!
Paying attention to the days you feel the most energy, simply measure how much sleep you had the night before a great day, or was in a better mood, these are good symbols and key indicators of when you are sleeping well.

2. Start your day off with gratitude.
After you’re up and are out of bed, the next best thing that sleep experts suggest to start feeling really good in the mornings is to start retraining the brain to feel happier by thinking about what you’re extremely grateful for in life.
Ideally, this should be one of the first thoughts that enter your mind just after opening up your eyes, and repeating those positive thoughts will be all the better.
It could be something tiny and minuscule like feeling grateful for a roof over your head or it could be very important such as overcoming an illness. It could also be anything from your infancy that you are most proud of or something great that happened for you this week that makes you feel great just thinking about it.
It doesn’t really matter what you choose to be grateful for, just as long as you are feeling the gratitude each morning.

3. Stretch Your Muscles as Soon as You Wake Up.

4. Combat the snooze button if it’s making you sleep in.
Sleep experts suggest if you would like to take charge of your mornings and truly win back your days that hitting the snooze button multiple times will strip your joy away.
We all do it, we press the snooze, but when we do, we have great remorse. So come morning time, you have to let your alarm know who’s boss, and counting backward from five to zero, then getting straight-up afterward, is the best way to combat the snooze button.
5. Eat healthy fats.
Incorporating something healthy to eat such as healthy fats is a great way of giving your body the longevity it needs, thus bringing you more happiness and good fuel for the start of each day. Did you know that research shows that washing your face will wake you up faster than coffee? On top of that, you can also trick your brain into thinking happier thoughts if the only thing you do is smile!
Since we all know that getting out of bed in the morning is not always easy, if you go to the bathroom, wash your face with cold invigorating water, and say three nice things that you really like about yourself, it will really start your day off well.
Make sure that you choose your words wisely, be kind to yourself, and don’t forget to smile as you do it. This little trick will help you go from grumpy to happy in a splash.
7. Create a simple morning exercise routine to get your body feeling extra energized.
